The Texxary Polarizing Filter (Light Version) is a streamlined, lightweight alternative to our original AR400 filter, designed for flexibility and efficiency in modern scanning workflows. Built with a high-quality 3D printed frame and premium-grade polarizing film, it delivers reliable performance in demanding photogrammetry applications—at a reduced weight and cost.

Why Cross Polarization Matters:

Cross-polarization is a game-changer for photogrammetry, especially when dealing with reflective surfaces. By placing a polarizing filter on both the camera lens and ring flash, you create a cross-polarization effect that dramatically reduces unwanted reflections and glare. This allows the camera to capture only the direct light coming from the subject, ensuring clear, highly detailed, and accurate scans, free of distortion caused by light bounce.

In photogrammetry, where the accuracy of 3D models relies heavily on the clarity of your images, cross-polarization is critical. It ensures that every surface detail can be captured with precision, providing more reliable data for reconstructing complex geometries.

By using cross polarization, you get true albedo colors without specular light, which is crucial in the PBR workflow to deliver AAA quality scans.

Although cross polarization is mainly used in photogrammetry, it is still very useful in art photography, for example, to digitize works of art 1:1 in their true color without reflections and to offer them, for example, as fine art prints.

Lightweight Design with Maximum Efficiency:

This light version is specifically engineered to reduce weight and size without compromising functionality. At just 67g and with a slim profile of 11.5mm, it is significantly lighter and thinner than the original AR400 filter. This compact design helps prevent vignetting on short lenses, making it ideal for setups where space and angle are critical.

The filter attaches directly to your ring flash using a reliable magnetic mounting system, ensuring a fast and secure setup in any situation. With its integrated handle, the filter can be adjusted in 45-degree increments, allowing you to quickly switch between cross-polarized and parallel-polarized lighting setups.

To achieve its lightweight construction, this version uses a magnetically pressed assembly without screws. While the polarizing film can still be replaced, this process is less straightforward compared to the original AR400 filter.

Built for Practical Use:

The durable 3D printed frame ensures sufficient rigidity while keeping the overall weight low. This makes the filter especially suited for mobile setups, handheld scanning, or situations where reducing strain on your equipment is important.

Compatibility:

Designed for use with popular models like the Godox Witstro AR 400, Walimex Pro HS-400, Quadralite RX400, Flashpoint RF-400, and RIKO400, this polarization filter integrates seamlessly into your existing setup.
